No More Backing Down

Before graduation, Ximena and her boyfriend Preston agree on a quiet seaside town. A week before the trip, "best friend" Blair Hayes pushes an Arizona-to-Utah road-trip route instead, so Ximena cancels the seaside hotels and replans everything. On departure day Blair has already claimed the passenger seat, and carsick Ximena sits in the back. When she steps out at a rest stop for medicine, the car leaves without her, and Preston refuses to turn around. Ximena stops chasing, flies to Porto Cielo and builds a slow, solo life by the sea. Preston comes begging, Blair calls her a burden, and later admits she saw Ximena get out and stayed silent on purpose. Half a year later, Ximena is standing on her own.
