Two girls are born at the same time in the Kingdom of Nanyue. An eminent monk prophesies that one of them bears the destiny of the phoenix, to be revealed only eighteen years later through a marriage alliance. The King of Nanyue decides it is Yue Yingchun. On the day of the alliance eighteen years later, he marries Yue Yingchun to the imperial house of Northern Qi, while Yue Yunhe is married far away to the barbarian wilds. Unexpectedly, the wilds are covered in gold and silver. Xuanyuan Ye, King of Daliang, who deeply loves Yue Yunhe, resolves to accompany her on her return home to fetch her mother. Only then does everyone realize in shock that the true phoenix maiden of destiny is Yue Yunhe, and in the end she becomes mother to all under heaven.
