Story summary
While changing trains with her theater troupe, Su Li recognizes the maintenance worker Han Qiu; two people who once promised to leave their hometown together now have only the time of one train to revisit the past. She had assumed he backed out at the last minute back then, but he never said that he had chosen a different line of work instead. After learning what each of them has gained over these years, she no longer asks him to prove his regret, leaving only the date of her next performance before boarding the train alone.
