Story summary
After the rain, a batch of water-damaged books is cleared out of the bookstore early; Cheng Qing accuses Mo Xu of not waiting for the inventory check, but going through the handover form she discovers she herself omitted the scope of books to be kept. A reader's manuscript discarded by mistake can no longer be recovered; she takes the initiative to explain her responsibility and contacts the author to make amends. Mo Xu also admits he failed to double-check, and the two redraw their handover procedures; the reconciliation happens in concrete repairs, not in a vague word of mutual understanding.
