Story summary
Lin Zhi invites He Yu to read the story of a silent film aloud in an old cinema, but He Yu prefers to preserve the visual blank spaces, unwilling to interpret every movement into a definite emotion. She was initially worried that the audience would find it difficult to understand, but during rehearsals, she heard more diverse impressions. The two cut down on the narration, supplementing context only at key moments, and then let the audience discuss their own interpretations; this invitation ultimately grew into an experiment in collective viewing.
