Story summary
At the station before parting, Chen Zhi tells Yu Zhou that she used to like him, and that speaking it now is to bring an end to the waiting, not in the hope that he will immediately buy a ticket to follow. Yu Zhou admits he had noticed long ago, yet consistently avoided responding. The two lay bare the expectations maintained over the years under the guise of friendship; she departs according to the original plan, and he stops sending ambiguous greetings. The confession ultimately becomes a precise farewell rather than a belated attempt to hold on.
