Story summary
On the last bus, Lin Lan runs into Zhou Yu, whom she had previously stood up, originally thinking an apology would restore their commuting together, but Zhou Yu says what truly mattered was the continuous lack of explanation. She finally explains the temporary work obligations at the time and admits that she could have sent a message but chose evasion instead. Zhou Yu accepts the apology, but declines to arrange joint travel for the time being; getting off at different stops, the two leave a distance that allows the relationship to be mended through gradual observation.
