Story summary
Wen He and Gu Yuan talk on the phone each day before the café closes, but recently only weary replies remain, and a "good night" is misheard by both as an eagerness to end the relationship. She suggests shifting long conversations to their shared days off and only reaching out on weekdays when they genuinely feel up to it. Gu Yuan admits he has also been forcing himself to keep it up, and both agree to cancel the mechanical check-ins; during a subsequent daytime meeting, they finally have the energy to clarify the recent small matters that had been left unsaid.
