Story summary
An old interview plays in a bookstore after the rain. Lin Qing hears Song Yan's criticism of a certain book and initially believes he was dismissing her, yet the complete recording actually discusses another edition. Years of estrangement had stemmed merely from an excerpted audio clip; she contacts him to clarify the misunderstanding and admits she had never sought verification. The two display the different editions of the book side by side and then discuss their views anew; the echo finally ceases to repeat that mistaken understanding.
