Story summary
An He and Xu Yuan sit down in their lamplit living room to discuss moving. As their spreadsheet grows ever longer, their budget disagreements remain unresolved late into the night, neither willing to stop out of fear of procrastinating. They agree to contact the agent the next day to verify key expenses, flag the questions that cannot be resolved through guesswork, and pack away their laptops. Though a home has not yet been chosen, both now know what needs to be done tomorrow; tonight, they finally do not have to exhaust themselves to prove they take the future seriously.
