Story summary
Song Qing agreed to set aside an after-work meal each week for Xu Yan, but Xu Yan gradually took this care for granted, often not mentioning until late at night that they had already eaten elsewhere. An inventory audit at the restaurant brought the long-term waste clearly into view, leading her to propose that meals would only be set aside with prior confirmation. Xu Yan settled the outstanding tab and began carefully sharing their schedule; the two maintained their desire to look out for one another while letting go of the old arrangement that left only one person waiting.
