Return to Where the Phoenix Rests

The Shen family arranges an embroidered-ball toss to choose husbands. Because the heroine Shen Yunqing's ball lands on Murong An, she is honored years later with a noblewoman's title, while her younger sister Shen Yunqiao's ball lands on a beggar, and after fleeing the marriage Shen Yunqiao suffers endless hardship. Jealous that Shen Yunqing enjoys wealth and rank, Shen Yunqiao kills Shen Yunqing on the day she is granted her title, and both are reborn back to the embroidered-ball day three years earlier. In this second life, Shen Yunqiao moves first and tosses her embroidered ball to Murong An, and by a dirty trick makes Shen Yunqing's ball land in the beggar's hands—never knowing the beggar's true identity is the emperor. Remembering that she was used as a pawn after marrying Murong An in her previous life, Shen Yunqing wants only an ordinary life this time. Ignoring everyone's cold stares, she marries the "beggar," and the emperor, his identity hidden, gradually falls in love with Shen Yunqing. When Shen Yunqiao learns the "beggar" is the emperor, she is consumed with regret, schemes against Shen Yunqing again and again, and is finally exiled. After enduring every hardship, Shen Yunqing becomes empress.
