Story summary
He Ning and Song Zhou take inventory of leftover dishes at the restaurant after closing. In the past, they always relied on overtime to process all remaining ingredients, but tonight they realize that extra prepared items might not sell at the right time anyway. The two sort and handle the items according to actual preservation conditions, logging waste and adjusting stock prep for the next day, refusing to keep using busyness to conceal procurement issues. The kitchen lights are turned off on schedule; after bidding each other goodnight, they take home a revised purchase list rather than more tasks that must be finished overnight.
