Stories

[Tea · Reality TV] "Love Is Blind" season 11 is set in Boston, and its most talked-about couple lasted about as long as one awkward conversation. Here's what happened with Jax and Stew, what they've said since, and the start of our weekly tracker.

The reveal

Jacqueline "Jax" Guelli, 31, an entrepreneur, and Scott "Stew" Stewart, 34, a director of engineering, got engaged in the pods. E! News reports that once they met face to face, with the ring already on her finger, Jax said more than once that "this is so weird."

Stew said he was "the furthest thing from disappointed." Jax told him, "You're very New England." When Stew joked that the guys in the pods called him "Kennedy," she shot back: "Please, more like Mitt Romney." Afterward she said she "should go home."

The exit

A producer later told Stew that Jax didn't want to go on the couples' trip to Mexico, had asked to go home immediately, and had declined an offer to sit down and talk with him. Asked whether they were still engaged, production said that was for him to "figure out." Stew's response was gracious: "I have no regrets about doing this. Life goes on."

What Jax says now

In an interview with Netflix Tudum, Jax said the exit "had nothing to do with him or his looks." She described going into "flight mode" after a reveal that didn't feel romantic, and said Stew came across as "cocky" in that first meeting. Her one regret: "He deserved a conversation... he's a gentleman and I should have handled it like a lady, but I didn't."

Stew told Tudum the reveal was "incredibly awkward" and said, "I'm not faulting her. I'm not faulting myself." He also said he wasn't heartbroken, because he felt confident in who he'd been in the pods.

The red flags they both saw

In the pods, the pair bonded over practical things: holidays, money, where to live, a shared love of "Phantom of the Opera." The first crack came when Stew said he'd never been in love. Jax called that "his red flag." She was also disappointed by a proposal she felt was "winging it."

Nick Lachey's moment

The premiere also had host Nick Lachey telling a divorced contestant that his first marriage gave him "a leg up" in knowing what he wants, according to E! News.

Couples tracker (week 1)

E! News reports that six couples said yes in the pods this season.

- Jax and Stew: engagement ended at the reveal. Jax left before the Mexico trip.

- The other five couples: status to be confirmed as episodes air. We'll add names and updates here each week.

New episodes arrive on Wednesdays. We'll update this tracker each week with who's still together, sticking to what airs and what the cast says on the record.
