The Golden lotus

After surviving the Khmer Rouge, Dara carries an ancient golden lotus pendant with her family from Cambodia to America. The pendant holds a mysterious connection to their bloodline and the Boran martial arts passed down through generations. Years later, Dara’s granddaughter is raising three children in Brooklyn when the lotus awakens. A terrifying creature called the Hollowkin appears, leading the family beneath Brooklyn to an ancient sealed door. Behind it is a mysterious girl with the narrator’s face—and memories she was never supposed to remember. As the family uncovers secrets hidden by Grandma Dara, they learn the lotus was protecting more than their past. Their Boran teachings are part of an ancient power, and something beneath Brooklyn is beginning to wake.
